Eczema ointment

The word eczema comes from a Greek word that means to effervesce, bubble or boil over. Eczema is a very common skin disorder and people who suffer from it, they know that it doesn’t look or feel good. Fortunately there are some easy steps to make your natural, homemade eczema ointment.

Eczema is also known as dermatitis. Symptoms include red, itchy and dry skin caused by inflammation. Wind, low temperatures, artificial soaps and shower gels, low humidity or to much washing lead to dry skin. So, it’s important to properly moisturize your skin with natural products daily.

Here are some tips to remember:

  • moisturize hands every time you wash them or when they come into contact with water;
  • apply a thick layer of moisturizer all over your skin within three minutes of bathing or showering to “lock in” moisture and protect the skin barrier;
  • do not use your hands to remove homemade eczema ointment from the container — this helps prevent contamination;
  • schedule your bathing and moisturizing routine at night, just before bed. This can help your skin better retain its moisture.

Moisturizers are sorted based on the amount of oil and water they contain. The more oil in a moisturizer, the better it usually is at treating eczema. The best moisturizers are home made oitments or creams, because they contain more oils and no artificial ingredients.
